Power Hour
The majority of students that frequent our community center are at least two grade levels behind in reading. With a drop-out rate of 54% by the ninth grade, our students' struggles can often be traced back to this battle with reading. FaithWorks is attempting to change that through Power Hour, an after-school reading tutoring program.
FaithWorks partners with Shidler
Elementary in southeast Oklahoma City where 65 tutors and 65 students meet weekly. Each Thursday afternoon from 2:45-4:30 students meet with their tutors one-on-one and work on one thing: reading.
At Power Hour, students begin their time with a snack, followed by a Bible lesson during club time, and then
some quality one-on-one tutoring. Join us! Tutors and substitute tutors
are always needed to make a difference in the lives of our students!
