Our Mission
FaithWorks of the Inner City is a nonprofit ministry designed to meet the educational, spiritual, and physical needs of inner city children and their families.
Our Vision
FaithWorks' vision is to transform the Shidler-Wheeler community into a place filled with capable, caring families who are provided access to medical care, exceptional schools, and social services, as well as opportunities for homeownership. Community grocery stores, family-owned businesses, and a place of worship will ensure that the Shidler-Wheeler community thrives and becomes a permanent home for future generations.
Our Focus
The focus of FaithWorks is helping individuals move forward through educational and spiritual programs beginning at age three and continuing through high school, college, and beyond. Meeting individuals where they are and creating opportunities for growth through programs, trainings, services, and connections assist individuals in reaching set goals, such as high school graduation, college, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and homeownership. FaithWorks' focus also includes meeting the physical needs of children and families residing in the community through the Shidler-Wheeler Community Thrift Store and benevolence funds.
Our Story
FaithWorks of the Inner City was born through a relationship with one little boy in the Shidler-Wheeler community from a chance encounter at a local nonprofit. Through God, and that relationship with that little boy, FaithWorks founder and executive director, Sally Goin's focus and heart was changed for this community and the people who live here. As Sally began volunteering in the community and at Shidler Elementary, she saw how few resources and little support this part of the city actually had. Through her connections as a high school teacher in Edmond, she began cultivating support. Traditions were established, needs were met, and relationships were built.
